The inspiration behind ManUtdProgs
We have been avid Manchester United fans since our childhood in the 1980s, when Bryan Robson was Captain.
Liverpool FC were very much the team of the moment at that time and Manchester United were drifting.
And then came Sir Alex Ferguson, and everything changed.
Through the 90s and, into the millennium, we were blessed to experience the most successful period in the club's history.
The players, the trophies, the 'never give up' spirit of the football club. We knew what we were living through was special.
As we witnessed the Sir Alex Ferguson era, and soaked up the special moments on the field, we began prizing the match-day programmes as a permanent reminder of the club's success. Prized possessions, that together, catalogued the club's history.
And from that point we were hooked.
With almost obsessive compulsion, our passion for Manchester United programmes grew. We filled in gaps in history, from famous matches that our forefathers would have experienced, through sourcing programmes that they may have held.
This was hard at first, in the pre-internet age, through a network of football programme dealers. And then came Ebay, and collecting football programmes become easier and more affordable for all.
And that obsession remains strong today, as we continue to add match-day programmes (modern and vintage) to our own personal collections.
As our obsession (and personal Manchester United programme collections grew) we wanted to find a way to share our passion with others. We also wanted to create a place for likeminded fans and collectors to contribute: the beginning of a community of collectors for mutual benefit.
And, in 2003, ManUtdProgs.com was born. From inception, our vision was to create the definitive collectors resource for Manchester United Cup Final programmes. A guide to each and every cup final winning programme. This vision remains today, and we continue to find ways to evolve ManUtdProgs.com to ensure that we remain as the definitive collectors resource for Manchester United Cup Final programmes!
